How to shop at various retailers (these are in alphabetical order)

Big Lots
  • Sign up for “buzz club” and additional coupon offers @ http://www.biglots.com/
  • Watch ads for deals on groceries, underwear, DVDs, school supplies (examples:  canned fruit $.50, DVDs $3, Crocs $9.99, underwear 3-ct $2, 1-Subject notebooks $.09…)
  • Browse store for deals in same areas
  • Shop the furniture department for good deals (compare prices to other retailers b/f making selection)
Bed, Bath and Beyond
  • Save all coupons from mailbox and/or flyers ($5/$15, $10/$30 & 20% off)
  • Use up to 3 coupons per day
  • EXPIRED coupons are accepted!
  • When purchasing a $10 item, combine w/a $5 item and  use $5/$15 Q for a FREE $5 item!
  • urchase “As Seen on TV” items here w/Q for best deal 
  • Match Qs to order for best deal.  I.e. $5/$15 and $10/$30 Qs offer 33% discount.  Use 20% coupon for items over $50.
  • Watch Christmas flyers for Free After Rebate items.  Purchase w/Qs for a small profit!

CVS
  • Sign-up at the register for an Extra Care Card
  • Earn Extra Care Bucks by purchasing specific items (NOTE: ECBS can be used for almost anything in the store)
  • If you rarely go to CVS, use ECBS to purchase additional items right after they print.
  • Purchase a Reusable Shopping bag tag for $.99 and earn $1 ECB for every 4 times you use the tag (limit 1 scan per day)
  • “Convert” ECBS into cash by purchasing items you have Mail In Rebates for at CVS
  • Watch ads for $25 GC w/transferred prescription Qs  (NOTE:  most stores take Competitor’s Pharmacy Qs)
  • Ask if your store takes all Competitor’s Coupons, if so, use Store Coupons from Walgreen’s, Target, Food Lion, etc at CVS (including $X/$XX Qs)
  • Coupon Limits:  2 Coupons per item (1 store coupon and 1 manufacture coupon) ECBS count at Store Coupons.   Pick up clearance items if you have too many coupons.
  • Check out deals @ http://www.iheartcvs.com/
  • Stock up on gifts, party favors, etc. when seasonal items are 75 or 90% off
  • Sign up to earn extra cash for college @ http://www.upromise.com/  
  • Print CRTs in store at Kiosk
  • Watch for CRTs for $X off any (i.e. up to $1 off ANY wipes = FREE travel size)
Costco
  • See Sam’s Club (may be slightly different)
  • Watch mailbox for coupon offers
  • Go to http://www.costco.com/ and use type “free samples” in search engine box.  Items will be delivered to your mailbox.
Dollar General
  • View the ad at http://www.dollargeneral.com/
  • Watch for $5/$25 Online Coupons (redeem before manufacture coupons for best deals)
  • Seasonal Clearance items (prices are already so low, 50% off may be better than another store’s 75% off sale)
  • In instances where there is a sudden jump in prices for specific items, check the price here and stock up if the item hasn’t already been raised


Dollar Tree
  • When traveling, pick-up items you forgot or ran out of
  • Allow pre-schoolers to select Christmas Gifts for entire family w/out having to explain what items are “too much” or “too little”
  • Glance in the freezer case for great deals on items nearing their expiration date (i.e. Lasagna, Bertolli, etc)
  • Purchase items that are a good deal (bread, cards (2/$1), frozen pretzels, hair brushes, helium balloons, ponytail holders, pre-teen bras, socks (3-ct), cookies and large storage bags)
  • Compare like items before making purchase.  Some may have more ounces and/or items per package
  • If you are dying to go spend some hard-earned cash, head here with a $5 or $10 limit…you’ll get to “shop” and won’t break the bank

Food Lion
  • Sign-up at Customer Service for a  “MVP” card
  • Ad runs Wed – Tues and is available 1 day prior to start of ad @ http://www.foodlion.com/
  • Sign-up for Food Lion Instant Printable Coupons (FLIPS) @  website above (click on “Shopper’s Companion”)
  • Combine sale prices w/FLIPS
  • After printing FLIPS, click on Baby Steps and/or Pet for additional coupons
  • Use FLIPS on smaller items for best deals (i.e. travel wipes are $1.64 - $1.50 ANY FL wipes = $.14 each)
  • Watch for B1G1 sales (use 2 manufacture’s coupons when purchasing 2 items)
  • Watch for buy X items for $Y offers (i.e. frozen pizza $3.99 OR 5 for $10)
  • View Catalina offers @ www.foodlion.com/shoppingtools/cashback.asp  (combine these w/sales, FLIPS and coupons for best savings)
  • Sign up at http://www.upromise.com/ & add your MVP card for extra savings.
  • Print coupons in-store at kiosk
  • Watch ads for "3-Day" Sales

Kroger
  • View ad @ http://www.kroger.com/
  • Sign-up at Customer service for a “Kroger Plus Card”
  • Double Coupons (up to $.50 each).  Look for small items, which may be free after double coupons!
  • Load “clip-free” coupons onto your Kroger card @ http://www.shortcuts.com/  http://www.cellfire.com/ & http://www.kroger.com/ (use on sale items and/or combine w/coupons)
  • Once you use a lot of coupons at Kroger, you will be mailed additional coupons (look closely, some will be Store Coupons…others Manufacture Coupons that can be used at any store!)
  • Watch for MEGA Sales, 10 for $10 Sales and Buy X, get Y off your order sales (combine sale with coupons for best deals)
  • Watch ads for great deals on Organic Produce.
  • Earn discounts at Kroger Gasoline stations w/purchase
  • Rent Moves for $1 each at Redbox
  • Watch for “orange” clearance stickers (Store next to Sam’s Club tends to mark down dairy frequently…Store next to Target marks down dry goods)
  • Verify receipts prior to leaving the store.  If you have been overcharged for an item, go directly to Customer Service where you will get your money back and will get to keep the item for FREE!

  • 55+?  Sign up at Customer Service for 5% discount EVERY Tuesday!

  • Look for CRTs w/receipt for additional coupons

  • Watch ads for great deals on plain t-shirts, yarn, paints, frames, etc.
  • Go to website for list of FREE events (demos, crafts, kid’s activities…)
  • Don’t let 50% off coupons go to waste!  Use for gifts, stocking stuffers, cake supplies, party favors, etc.
  • If you buy something w/out a coupon and receive a coupon in the next few days, take the item w/the coupon back to the store for the difference.
Office Depot and Office Max
  • Stock up on back to school supplies for free (or pennies)
  • Recycle used ink cartridges and earn $3 store credit for each
  • Look for FAR items in ad
  • Teachers, ask if Office Max will raise limits on Back to School items to 20 (to match competitor "Staples"), some locations have done this
Rite Aid
  • Watch ads for $25 GC w/transferred prescription Qs
  • Sign-up at http://www.riteaid.com/ for special offers, including $5/$25 printable coupons
  • Pick-up Single Check Rebate (SCR) flyers each month and combine Qs w/free after SCR items for best deals
  • NOTE:  SCR receipts can be keyed in online, redeem only once per month, may redeem automatically, if you forget to do so at the end of the month 
  • Maximize offers by getting a "Wellness Plus" card in-store or online
  • Earn coupons off next order by purchasing "+UP" offers (some will be FREE)
  • If you rarely go to Rite Aid, redeem +UP coupons the day you earn them (have cashier ring separate order)
  • Earn additional coupons (including $5/$25) by going to website above and clicking on "Video Values"
                        
Sam’s Club
  • Consider cost of membership b/f joining club
  • Compare gasoline prices to all other stations (valid, only if you are near a Sam’s offering gasoline)
  • FREE samples (especially during 11 – Fri – Sat)
  • Pick-up Take-out pizza for under $9 (or have lunch @ the food counter for less than the cost of fast food)
  • Compare cost per ounce to other retailers (NOTE:  Wal-mart is generally more expensive, unless Wal-mart offers a generic.  Sam’s may be cheaper than everyday prices at other retailers, however SALE prices can be less expensive per ounce or unit than the cost at Sam’s)
  • Purchase items that are competitively priced (i.e. bananas, batteries, birthday cakes, carrots (organic, baby peeled), chicken (frozen breast), clothing, DVDs,  film development, milk (except organic), peanut butter crackers, pepperoni, powdered milk (use for cooking), romaine lettuce, rotisserie chicken, tortilla chips, vanilla & yeast)
Staples
  • Sign-up at http://www.staples.com/ to have the weekly ad delivered to your inbox.
  • Watch for FREE after Easy Rebate items (create an account online, key in specific information from your receipt and receive a check in the mail w/out having to mail anything)
  • Pick up school supplies July – early September for $.01 and up.  (Limit may be “3”, but TEACHER limit is “20”…home school teachers can  show HEAV, HSLDA or other card).
  • Recycle used ink cartridges for up to $3 each.
  • Watch ads after purchase of big ticket items, if same item goes on sale the following week, go to Customer Service with the receipt, the ad and the box.  Ask for a price adjustment based on the new price.
 
Target
  • View ad @ http://www.target.com/
  • Watch Sunday inserts for Target Store Coupons.
  • Go to http://www.target.com/ for additional printable Target coupons.
  • Combine a store coupon with a manufacture coupon on each applicable product.
  • Scan flyers for FREE Target Gift Card w/purchase offers.  Combine manufacture and store coupons with these offers for near free products.
  • Watch ads for 2 weeks AFTER making a major purchase.   Take your receipt to Customer Service w/in 14 days, if the item goes on sale get refunded the difference.
  • Take Competitor’s Ads to Customer Service for a Price Match
  • Bring cloth reusable bags to the store and receive $.05 credit off your order per bag used
  • Watch for coupons printed when checking out.  Use for savings at Pizza Hut, Target Cafe or other
  • Scan store parameter and racks for clearance items, including seasonal (up to 90% off), clothing, toiletries, groceries, etc.
  • Watch for toy clearance (up to 75% off) and stock up for birthday gifts.
  • Stock up on party favors when One Spot ($1 items) are 75% off.
  • Watch your mailbox for Target Mailer Coupons
  • Get 5% discount every day with use of Target Credit Card.  (Use discretion when choosing to get any credit card.  Discount is worthless, unless balance is paid in-full every month.  If you don't have the cash to buy the item, don't assume you'll have it when the bill comes.) 

Walgreen's

  • Scan flyer for Register Reward offers (RRs are redeemable for almost anything in the store.)  NOTE:  RRs will NOT print if you pay with a RR from the same manufacture.  More than on RR can be used to pay for an order, but it they cannot be from the same offer printed on the same day.
  • Sign-up in store for "Walgreen's Rewards" Card 
  • Pick-up monthly store coupon booklets near ads in-store.
  • Sign up to receive emails and receive special offers, including $X/$Y printable coupons.
  • Scan ads for Store Coupons, which can be combined with manufacture coupons.
  • Pick Up additional store coupons on display with weekly ad
  • Coupon Limits:  1 coupon per item.  RR count as a coupon.  If you have too many coupons, pick up clearance items or candy or other items as needed.

  • Price Guarantee (if an item rings incorrectly, go to Customer Service where you will receive the difference in price plus $1  OR your money back if the item costs less than $1)
