Christmas Crackers (Poppers)

These make a great little take-home treat or a simple craft for kids and are suitable for most ages. You can buy them HERE or make your own.  As newly weds, my husband and I just to have a box of these to give to family members who come over for Christmas dinner.  Although they looked nice, they were not worth the $1+ per item.

Make your own using:

  • empty toilet paper tubes (or paper towel tubes cut in half)
  • candy
  • ornaments, party favors or other trinkets (Dollar Tree has up to 12 items per package)
  • Christmas sayings, or Bible verses, printed on slips of paper
  • Wrapping paper
  • Tape
  • Ribbon
Cut paper 3x the width of the tube then tape to the side of the tube.  Cover tube with paper by rolling the paper around it.  Tape seam then use ribbon to secure paper close to end of tube.  Insert Bible Verse or poem, trinket(s) and candy into open tube.  Secure open end with additional ribbon.  Write guest names on printable address labels, then stick one to each cracker.  Use as place cards.

Have Fun!
