Stores are offering a variety of deals to get your hard-earned cash. One type of offer is a Mail In Rebate. Often these require a UPC (bar code) from the package. If you have purchased such an item for a gift, you'll want to remove this tactfully to avoid a big, ugly hole in the box. Follow these steps:
- Grab an X-Acto knife, box cutter or razor blade.
- Carefully score the package around the UPC, cutting through the paper and leaving the cardboard intact.
- Gently peel the UPC from the package.
- Cover the unsightly barren area with a Christmas sticker
- OR Scan the UPC then print. Carefully trim printed UPC prior to gluing to package. (NOTE: do NOT do this if you think your recipient may try to return the item. It would be quite embarrassing to have mall security question his/her intentions.)
