Martin's Frozen Food Spend $100, get $25 CAT Update

Yippee, I got my $25 CAT!  At the beginning of this offer, three weeks ago, I couldn't imagine spend $100+ in one store in the frozen food department.  Because I often buy items that are at their lowest price, it seemed I'd have to buy an entire freezer full of food to meet this goal.  Thankfully, the tally was calculated generously and did not deduct for manufacturer's coupons, Catalinas, rain check discounts nor Buy X, Save Y offers.  It's not too late to take advantage of this offer.  Use these tips to get the best deal:

  1. Check your current total at the bottom of your receipt.  If you've shopped at Martin's anytime this month, you've probably bought at least one item in the frozen foods department.  Look for "Frozen Food Club", which will be wedged between two rows of asterisks.   "Earn" will describe the points earned on the receipt you are viewing.  "Bal" is the tally you're looking for.
  2. Determine whether or not you will be able to take advantage of this offer by answering these questions:  How close are you to the 100 points you need?  (If you've earned 50, the most you'd have to spend is $50 to get a $25 CAT.)  Do you have freezer space?  (Tips for finding some HERE.)   Do you have cash available to earn enough points to get to the $100 mark?
  3. Check out this week's Martin's ad HERE for the best deals, including a Buy 6, save $5 instantly offer.  (I bought 6 Toaster Strudel and 2 Hanover Completes using the IPs suggested.  My total was less than $5, yet I earned 12 points!)
  4. Pick up items your family needs or wants.  Of course it's best to snag those items which happen to be on sale and you have coupons for.  If you determine you only need to spend $5 or so, it's OK to splurge on an item to two.  It's not worth spending nearly $100 on regularly priced items in hopes of getting another $25 for free....unless you are purchasing items that NEVER go on sale nor have coupons (like gluten free donuts that run $5.29 for a box of 6!)
  5. At the checkout counter, you'll be asked if you want to redeem you points.  If you reply, "Yes", you'll get a coupon for $25 off a future order.  This will be valid for a couple of weeks.  If the cashier does not mention this, be sure to check for you new "Frozen Club Balance".  You wouldn't want to miss getting the $25 CAT b/c you didn't spend a few bucks!
Offer ends 3/26/11.  Some exclusions apply (Contessa meals and some frozen meats and seafood.)  Originally natural and organic items were excluded, but seemed to be added later (and rightfully so, b/c these were not listed in the exclusions.)
