Summer is the perfect time to pick up a good book. If you're looking for ways to save money or inspritation to get you started, there are several great options. My husband and started to really seek ways to save money in 1997, after reading Ron Blue’s Master Your Money and determining God wanted us to be debt free. I read any money-saving book I could get my hands on. Some of my favorites are below. Whether you just want to keep some of your hard-earned cash or you are in over your head, each of these books can lead you in the right direction.
Many of these books can be purchased at www.amazon.com Shipping for “new and Used” books is only $3.99 per item. I have purchased books for around $5, including shipping. You can also search your local library via the internet.
For a better understanding of coupons and rebates, plus be challenged to share as never before, read: Shop, Save and Share by Ellie Kay (she is my favorite author and she is a Christian) more info (and additional books) @ http://www.elliekay.com/
For an inspiring read about a woman determined to “stay-at-home” with 6 kids and somehow save for a huge down payment on a house, using her husbands <$25,000 annual salary, plus a TON of advice on saving on everything from vehicles to aluminum foil, read: The Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn (this is available at the library in Henrico)
For a amazing story of God’s provision when this wife overspent and risked all her family had, including her husband’s job, read: The Complete Cheapskate by Mary Hunt http://www.cheapskatemonthly.com/aboutus_press_mary.asp
